Ok so all I have to do extra is unbolt the intake manifold from the T-bracket?

Did you use a rag to wipe off the top of the pistons or is that not recommended? Basically, what's the procedure for cleaning the top of the block before reinstalling the head? (I won't need to clean the head, the head will be fresh)

Well my dad builds race car motors and he had my head resurfaced and then I made sure the block surface was clean with a wire brush. You should make sure and cover up the two center cylinders because the outer two will be at TDC so they are fine and also cover the four holes that let oil pass between the block and head until you bolt down your new head. But all I did was use the wire brush on the block and wiped down the pistons. I dont know the real educated way to do it but it worked just fine for me. Make sure you time your ignition after as well.

the worst part for me was all the f'ing hoses and sensors but then i did replace the head and intake manifold all the rest was relatively easy and straightforward

Are you suppose to wipe off the dish of the pistons? I assume they will be dirty...

Alright. What would you recommend? Just a rag? Or should I use degreaser? Or would that be bad for the cylinder walls or the piston rings

I used a dry rag so I didnt mess with the cylinder walls.

i would go ahead and wipe em off and blow em out if you have a air compressor around....
it shouldnt be to bad if the motor was running fine. might have alittle bit of carbon build up but nothing to be to concerned about.

most i would really do is put some rags in the cylinder with the piston down if you can and try to break off that upper ridge ring build up! main reason i say that is if you rev the motor higher than usual it can hit those ridges and actually break the piston rings, and we all know its not good!!!!!! just cheap preventative job.

Alright, i'll wipe them clean then. And addiction, i'll try to clean off the buildup.

Just gotta get this head work done. New guitar first though.

Oh and nah, i've never heard of that forum. I kind of avoid local forums anyway because i'm not really all that social idk. Plus, thieves scope people out on local forums.
