There are ways to eliminate automated spam posts, 99.9% are automated, none of the ones I've seen on this forum were made by a real person.

Solution 1
, solution 2; many, many other options as well, just takes some tweaking by an admin. That said, there's very little spam activity on this forum, but it grows in proportion to traffic.

you should try being a moderator sometime; You'd be surprised how many very real people are making spam posts. A few months ago I wasted three hours of my saturday morning following some douche around the forums deleting his spam threads (which he so kindly posted in every section) because as soon as I'd delete one, he'd post another one. Civicex and 315 can both attest to it, seeing as when I signed off, he apparently kept spamming, since AJ deleted some of the posts before Kev could finally get to a computer to ban the guy.

VTX, you really need to let it go; one of the mods might have made a hasty decision, but we do have a rule stating the mods and admins have the final say in any issue. If it makes you feel better, you can blame the whole thing on me even though I wasn't even logged in when your thread was deleted. It wouldn't be the first time a forum member was incredibly p***ed at me, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

well i see where both of you are coming from! but i tend to lean toward cronics side because like he said this is a civic site and the way i see it it would be wrong to post anything other than civic information.

and just for example, had your post been malicious or a scam, how many people would have been angry, including myself, at the staff of this forum.

i dont know what was said originally, but i think given your little contribution to the forum and the recent attacks, i think he acted appropriately!

I have a suggestion regarding the spammers. I haven't been on here much, but from a moderating perspective, I know it's pretty crappy sometimes. I'm not sure if there's already something like this considering I joined a long time ago and I don't remember.

I say implement a way of restricting new member posting. Say like you can only post 1-2 (or more) posts a day for a couple days. After they've proved they're legitimate, they can start posting full time. Sort of a trial membership. That will cut down on spammers, trolls, as well as the people that make many useless posts in order to sell parts in the classified.

As far as membership traffic, the only way is advertising, which CAN be free, sometimes, but usually very expensive.

You know what little boy? You got it. Meanwhile, you go ahead and sit around with the rest of the members here wondering why there's only ten new posts a day. It's a lack of moderation and control of irritating little $hits like you on forums that cause the staff to wonder why in the world they can't get a more active community.

See ya!

Please make a new thread for other complaints, or pm them directly, you're not helping in any way.

he posted it in the correct section, off topic, but the fact he was trying to get us to donate money, download some program that will run on our computer 24/7 raised suspision. This forum has had its troubles with virus. A lot of the older members will remember how the forum came under attack and many members left because of the virus that screwed up thte forum. So frank needs to calm down. I may have come off but im looking in the best interest of the members of the forums. He has still yet to admit to breaking any rules and just keeps on insulting me. And yes im just a kid(18) but i hope one day when im older like you frank i wont be acting like you on the internet. I would like to see you act that in real person, but its w/e. This is stupid and this will b my last comment on this situation
