Increasing membership?
^ Come to think of it, I think this approach needs to be taken more often. Too often I see everyone bashing the newer members regardless of the situation of an argument, and usually, they're are the ones that are banned or bashed. I think there needs to be a probation for older members too that participate in the bashing of newer members. This will keep membership up for newcomers because it will be fair and equal.
RonJ, thank you very much for your time and effort sir. A simple Google search, as I requested without being argumentative in the least when this initially began, seems to have informed you and placated any concerns you may have had. Your advice is duly noted, however I cannot quite agree with it. I've been staff on forums for a long time and I won't go into the list of forums I've been involved in. Suffice it to say though, that with technology forums, we get a tremendous amount of spam posts. I was careful to give enough information in my original post so that anyone taking more than one second to actually think would see the validity in it.
I'm going to need a lot of help with my new Civic. My experience with a simple post about Folding absolutely smashes any confidence I may have had that the folks here, and the staff who run this site, would take the time and make a mature, heart felt effort to help me.

Time to time, we get massive influxes of spammers and the like.
Your post was su****ious because it contained information that could easily be taken as a threat... downloading something to your computer because someone on the internet said so isn't really very smart because there are many threats out there.
Even though people could have searched and found out what it was like I did, you should have posted what it was about in your post to avoid any potential skepticism.
You have to be cautious on the internet. Many people do not run antivirus software and don't get viruses because they stay away from fishy sites. The concept of Folding@home, while it is good, can easily be mistaken for a scam.
This is 2009, and there are scams/threats/spyware all over the internet, and with how many spammers we get sometimes, it's not difficult to take your link as a potential threat.
I am taking neither of your sides. Both of you made big mistakes:
VTXFrank:
You should have posted more information before posting the link. The information within the link is kind of vague and can easily seem fishy, especially in the digital world circa 2009. You should not have acted so childish when speaking to and about Croninc.
Croninc:
Don't react so suddenly and harshly. You must not know enough about computers to know that not all tracking cookies are bad, so don't act like you do. You should have instead silently reported the post, or at least said something not so definitive, as in how you were acting like it was a scam without a doubt.
You both need to accept the fact that you did something wrong.
lol i retract my statement in my previous post...
I have said i came out too harsh. If you look at the post I made, which you cant unless your an admin, I was jumping a conclusions to fast, but still the way he worded it sounded like one of the nigerian money scams. The wording was just too nice and was very suspisous. I should have googled it, but I didnt...get over it. I would rather be wrong about a scam than let it pass by and people get their comps screwed up. And again Frank your still in the wrong cause the post violated the rules, so either way you put it, your wrong.

Going back to like page two or so........we really do need to somehow highlight the ROTM winner.
I know nothing about webpage design, so excuse any idiocy
What if we put a link to the current ROTM along with "User CP FAQ Memeber List Calendar....etc"?
Also I really like the new top banner design, but could new gen Civics be turned into older gen Civics? It seems like almost everyone on here has a 2000 or below Civic, and what most people come here to ask questions about. Maybe use a couple of the members' cars? (I think i remember a discussion about using members' cars somewhere, so if it was shot down already, please disregard
)

captain mcfly, while these ideas are great and i would like to see most of them implemented, we are sorely lacking in the ability to bring about large scale changes to the forum like you are asking. IB hates us apparently and doesnt give a rats *** about whether its user base on this forum is happy or not.
I agree with trust about organizing and adding to the general civic specs and data. This and "for Sale" sections is the primary reason google directs me into other forums during my searches, so I think adding to this section would bring in a lot more traffic.
I also agree with whoever mentioned that we should have more self perpetuating threads such as the "what have you done to your civic today," the "HCF Yearbook thread" and so on.
I may be pointing out the obvious, but we need to shift HCF from a Question/Answer help desk to more of a fun social forum where members get to know one another better. It would be much more welcoming. It has gotten to the point where unless I myself have a question, the only thread I usually read is the funny pictures one. A more close-knit informal community I think would encourage the Fix-my-car newbs to stick around longer. Most people dont wanna talk about or read about car related things ALL the time.
Also, I dont know if this is feasible, but Perhaps the Project section could be re-arranged so that when you click on SoAnDSoXX69's project, you would be directed to sublinks either in the form of one date to another, or sub projects suchs as "Installed my spoiler" or maybe in the form of "Internal mods." The project threads should be a highlight of the site, but I honestly only read like 3 of them because they are so long and unending. some organization to break them up would make them more accessible to people with short attention spans.

I think there is nothing wrong with the boards, when I was a noob and first joined I loved this site everyone was helpful and the attitude around here is excellent, it can't be that were hard to find because when you type Civic forums on Google were the first one.
Club Civic has about 100,000 Members more than half of us and I don't see why, they have a huge sponsor section, but thats all.
I have a shirt from this site and wear it often and Im part of a car club here and a few Civic runners with me and I always put the info out about this site I try.

use to be a member of cb7 tuner.com they give discounts and stuff with being a memeber it aint much like 5% or so with tire rack or the sponsors would pick people to test new stuff and have a big get together once a year
I know I'm a newb, but I like how another forum has a list of the ten most recently commented upon threads. It helps to find the more active conversations. I know that the title of each sub-forum has the most recently commented thread, but if more than one active thread is in one sub-forum, you wouldn't be able to tell.
