Default AEM intake : UPDATE!!

Brought my 06' civic coupe to the dealer. (engine light on after install of aem intake). They told me that the error code they got said something like "fuel ratio/consumtion" something in that nature. They told me to reinstall factory for proper diagnosis. Also on my receipt is says "P0171 SYSTEM TOO LEAN" . can someone help me too understand why this is happening? I tried disconnecting the battery as someone here told me to do and that doesn't work. If i am going to re install the factory and they do not find anything wrong is it worth reinstalling the aem intake? should i just leave the intake? Is anybody interested in purchasing an intake for either an 06 or 07 honda civic will consider selling. I can take pics also its about only 1 year old. I live in toronto, canada area if any one interested please let me know. Thanks.

Basically the extra air from your intake caused your A/F ratio to become to lena adn throw a code. If you reinstall your factory airbox then disconnect and reconnect your battery there will be nothing to diagnose since your A/F ratios will be back to stock. Never heard of an intake giving that much of an air flow improvement but there ya go.

i disconeetied it for more than 15 mins to make sure and as soon as i started the car the light was still on. Any other suggestions. I will try it again within the next few days and see if it works. When the light goes off it only comes on if i rev it more then say 4-5k and i can keep it below that it usually doesnt come back on.

Are you positive that there is no leak? I'll bet that if you call AEM and explain what happened, they'll tell you that there is an air leak somewhere. Take it off and reinstall, taking special care to make sure every junction is sealed correctly.
