because the filter ends up behind all that stuff, you have to get to it

my point was that they design them differently for different cars. it's not like you have a choice when you buy it. some cars use a longer intake, some use a short one. I wouldn't say they are "usually" anything because I am not familiar with every single application, and I'm sure this guy is only worried about his own car
majority of them are shortpipes, mainly for acoustical purposes, but some the applications require different lengths due to engine compartment space.

dont mean to change the subject but why do u have 2 take the bumper off to completely install the cai ???
Yea, like the other guy said, you need to take the bumper off inorder to get the air filter in...

but don't worry, its not hard at all...just a couple of screws and its off...

so, im assuming you have a sixth or seventh gen. in the case of you having a sixth gen, AEM makes a cold air intake and a V2 intake which in this case IS a cold air style intake, but it also has different size tubings that do something with soundwaves to increase power. Therefore V2 makes more power than the standard CAI but is also a form of a CAI

If you have a seventh gen, the V2 is NOT a CAI, it sits in the engine bay but still uses the different diameter piping thing to increase power. Therefore they have a CAI and a V2 which is NOT a CAI.

Hope that makes sense buddy, good luck.

I have an 07 LX for whoever was asking.

I was curious because in the stick thread, it said there was a V2 style CAI from AEM. This made me do some research, but I couldnt find any V2 style CAI.

Is there a difference in HP gain/sound?
