Default Best exhaust option for cheap?

I just bought a 1992 civic ex sedan for racing at my local track. They have a class for old 4cyl auto cars. I know someone here might have a problem with this, as it involves gutting a perfectly good car to ditch weight, but oh well. I got the car for $1 - my dad had a deal with his manager when he took it on trade for that price. My budget for all mods is about $300 and it doesnt need to be crazy powerful. I will be building myself a custom cold air intake, and i want to do something with the exhaust. my daily driver is a chevy truck, so im not familiar with hondas, so i want some info on what i should do with the exhaust. I want to not have any backpressure, but without going overboard and losing power. My thoughts are to either go with a straight pipes, no cats or mufflers, after the header - in about 2.25 - 2.5 diameter, or to just cut the exhaust somewhere around the driver seat area and put a turn-down tip on to dump the exhaust there. I want something cheap that will help a bit with performance, but without costing much on a car im not putting a lot into. Thanks in advance.

Anybody? I just want some simple honda tech here - would i be safe to just cut it off and dump it, or would it be better to run straight pipes through to the back?

I would wait a little longer than 45 minutes before bumping a thread. However, I would suggest just running straight pipes all the way back. I would stick with 2.25'' piping, 2.5'' is too big for an NA civic IMO.

not to be an *** or anything, but 11:48pm to 12:27pm the next day is 12 hours and 45 minutes. thanks for the input though, i was looking for some response before the weekend. I am going to start gutting the car when i go out there on sunday, and might start on this part then. I am thinking that even though dumping it would be easier, straight piping it is probably the best way.

dynomax DNX series makes a full cat back exhaust for really cheap ( check summit racing), they also sell matching diameter midpipes
