Default bolt on exhaust?

Well im looking at putting on exhaust in the next month or so ( DC, DNX), well I was wondering is if i bought a cat back exhaust for my car would i be able to bolt it in or does a shop have to do it, i mean does it require any welding? also whats your opinion on a flowmaster for compacts. I come from a red neck family and many of them use flow master on there trucks or old muscle cars but do they make a good sounding/flowing exhaust? thanks for any info.

Theres a few members here with the flowmaster exhaust. Check out Remmy's product review int he 6th gen section, there should be a soundclip there.

As for being able to do it yourself, definitely! No need to take it to a shop. The only issue you will most likely run into, is the bolts that hold the catilytic converter to the rest of the exhuast. I think its easiest to disconnect the o2 sensor from the cat, and take the cat off with the exhaust so that you have more room to pry at the bolts.

Good luck, and let us know if you run into any issues!

A torch or grinder is also VERY helpful. Unless you have soaked the bolts on your stock exhaust every day with WD-40 for a month it will almost be impossible to get them off in one piece, atleast it was for me. What I learned from it....forget how bad you have to mutilate the stock bolts, most exhaust systems come with new bolts/gaskets, so gring/torch away at them, just make sure you don't mess up anything on the cat where it connects.
