can v2 intake fit on a automatic?
Well I just got a nice check from the people at IRS and I want to get a new intake for my 98 DX CIVIC. I looked through the intake FAQ found that it suggest the v2 is the best in take. when I looked it up on AEM it tells me its for a manual, but I have an automatic so would it still work orshould I useShort Ram; Cold Air IntakePart #: 22-413P to be on the save side? Also if I end up useing Short Ram; Cold Air Intake would I have to remove my bumper to install it?

As far as the AEM V2 cold air intake goes, I don't think that that model will work. The placement of the intake manifold (where the air intake goes to) is different in the automatic models. I'm posting manual and automatic pics. The automatic have the green circle. The manual has a red circle.
To install the cold air intake you might get lucky enough to not have to remove the front bumper. Jack up the car, take off the wheel, and take off the splash shield. You should be able to get to where the filter has to be when all of those things are removed.
To install the short ram intake all you have to do is remove the air box. You can elect to remove the lower portion of the stock air intake (which I suggest doing). To get to the bolts of the lower portion do what you have to do for the cold air intake, remove those parts.

RE: can v2 intake fit on a automatic?
It looks like AEM doesn't make a V2 cold air intake for automatic models. You can get a cold air intake off eBay if you wanted to. The reason the V2 is so good is because it keeps the air colder. It keeps the hot air from the engine bay away better than a regular CAI (cold air intake).
Here's a generic CAI from eBay for your car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...96382624QQrdZ1
The reason AEM doesn't make a V2 for the auto 98 civic is because the V2 is a dual chamber design. There isn't enough room for the extra wide pipe to bend from the location it has to. The manual model has the room. Sorry man.
Still I would suggest to get a CAI, generic or not. I would even suggest to find one with a 'breather.' It's a safety path for air to get in if you splash into a puddle. It's not as performance friendly, but it's still better than a short ram intake, and it saves your butt if you get a huge splash.

^^^ you got the answer right, but the pics are way off. YOu are showing an EX and a DX, not a manual and automatic.
the V2 will NOT work on an automatic 96-00 civic.

Sorry about that, I got the pictures from Cardomain.com and the car owners themselves must not know the model of their cars because They were both listed as 1998 DX Civics. My bad, I have a 93 so I'm not familiar with what the 96-00 civic. Thanks!!

Disregarding the V2 (I am an auto-arian also) A cold air intake is better than a short ram intake? Thats the general cencus? Is there any particular brand/model of CIA that stands out?
