Default cat back question

i understand the cat back is from the catlayic converter back i believe, so what connects up to that, the headers??

shouldn't you replace the piping in-between also?

thanks for the clear up

There are three components to your exhaust system- the header coming directly off of the head, the catalytic converter, and the cat-back. 1-2-3. On some models the cat is one piece with the header, but cat-backs are going to connect directly to the cat- the cat directly to the header.

Uh huh, it's called the motor.

Header, cat, cat-back... 1-2-3. That's it for the exhaust.

A catback exhaust includes all the piping from the cat, it's not just the muffler.

The cat is not included in a cat-back exhaust. And yes, there is piping in between some components.

Just to make everything 100% clear, the intake runs to the motor, which connects to the headers, which in turn connect to the catalytic converter, which through a pipe, run to the muffler and out of the car.

And like ngoti8tor said, the piping coming from the cat to the muffler is included in the "exhaust."

Just to condense everything into one post.

i got it... sorta and sorry for not getting it, just when i get the exhaust system, i want to do the whole thing, not leave out any part, so basically only do the cat back, theres nothing more to do or replace in there? not talking about headers or anything here

Cat-back should cover everthing from the end of the catalytic converter (piping and muffler), to the tailpipe.
