Alright, well, my plates don't expire til July, so I guess I'll buy a high-flow and hope for the best.

ebay is your best bet for any cat. If you want a little horsepower gain, grab a Magnaflow or Randomstech high-flow cat, prolly about $75 but its wroth it, specially in Cali

Well, the $80 magnaflow cat would have to be welded on as it is not a direct fit. How much would a shop charge to have it welded on?

usually about $25, cheap/easy thing to do since they just cut out part of your exhaust and weld a new piece in.
