Default Cold air vs. Short Ram?

What is the differences between these, and whats the best place to get them? I understand that if you buy cheap ones your check engine light will go on all the time, so Ill be looking to get a nice one. Any suggestions?

Default RE: Cold air vs. Short Ram?

short ram basically replaces the stock airbox with a highflow filter at the same location. Cold air re routes the intake filter closer to the ground to get away from the heat generated by the engine. Colder air equals more power, but with a car running about 100hp its not too big of a difference. Short ram increases power in the upper level of your powerband, CAI increases the lower end of your powerband. CAI will net you the most overall power but with the filter being close to the ground you run the risk of sucking up water and seizing your motor.
