Check the modified pic below....on 92-95 the hole (RED arrow) is where the stock intake goes through. The front bumper has a cut-out for allowing air into the pocket between the bumper and the fender liner. He'll get plenty of fresh air.

my fault then, thats my mistake, i always thought the point of an sri was to catch air coming off the cooling fan, guess not for that model

I got thinking about what you said Dogmeat. On my stock filter there is 2 inlets for air, one where you pointed and then there was another one that ran out to the fan. Well I cut a piece of it off so it is a small "U" type pipe and I put it in the hole that you mentioned, now the air from the wheel well will blow directly at the filter. soon as i find my camera I will post a pic.
