I have a Civic EX 00' model. As you all know, it has the d16y8 motor. I have a SRI and a custom 2.25" cat-back exhaust and 9.3mm spark plug wires with Bosch Platinum 4 spark plugs. I'm getting a DC Sports 4-2-1 one piece header in about a week. What are some other things I could do to gain more HP? I do not have the money for a supercharger or a turbo or anything big like that, but I need to know some other things I could do to gain more HP. I'm looking for a lot of low end power. Pleasssse help me lol thanx

 

First of all get rid of those plugs and throw them as far as you can. Put some NGK's in there. Pulley kit, short throw w/bushings, throttle body spacer, cam gears. Dont' know if that helps but just a few things.

 

Bore throttle body, test pipe, camshaft, Cold air intake.

 

It's all about getting as much air as you can in/out as fast as you can(to start). You have the exhaust part, after you get a high flow catalytic converter ($80-$250), now work on getting the air in- Cold Air intake (CAI), AEM is the bomb but pricey ($150-$250). Check out our new sponsor, K&N. I don't know if they make the actual intake for your car but their filters are awesome. A bigger throttle body is a good idea but aftermarket ones are expensive ($250-$400), from what I understand the Integra ones are bigger and you can find them at a junkyard or used on e-bay, then whichever you choose you should look into an intake manifold. The y8 IM is considered very close to the type-R manifold so you could just port match it to your new throttle body by getting it bored out, but if you have the cash go visit the guys at Skunk2.

I'm by no means an expert, but this is what I've picked up on here. If you are wondering about anything just do a search for it. You will be surprised how much you can learn by reading old posts and responses.

 

I second that motion. everyone i know whos gotten those has had major repair work shortly thereafter from them running too hot. the bosch plats are fine, just stay away from the +4s.
