Do I really need the intake resonator?
Those of you who have the DX or LX 96-98 probably know if you don't have the SRI or CAI yet, you've got alot of junk under the hood.
Mine had that top mounted throttle body, and the huge intake plastic, with the resonator box down by the front passenger headlight. It connects to the intake tube in 2 places. My guess is it is designed to quieten the intake sound, which I really don't care much about.
I ordered my SRI yesterday, but I want to go ahead and pull that resonator box off, and plug those holes so its just suckin through the inlet and nothing else. Would that hurt the car at all? In other words, is that resonator really needed for performance reasons, or can I just rip it out so I can do some cleaning.
