stick with the name brand stuff if you want to keep your car's engine from hydrolocking.

new engines are expensive.

I like the AEM version, if you can find one thats exactly the same look as the AEM but less money you might be alright, but the one you linked looks kinda crappy, according to what most people are saying in regards to Ebay filters.

not really. a d17 is pretty cheap - $300-$500, depending where you shop. although i wouldn't throw away money for not being careful

you will lose almost all of the power gained through a CAI by using the bypass valve.

personal opinion: buy the cheap eBay intake, buy a REAL performance filter (K&N, AEM, whatever) and switch back to short ram when its soggy out. Or keep the CAI on and just drive smart (no WOT, avoid puddles, etc).
