the header and cat are separate parts; you can upgrade either independently. If you get just a header, you'll be fine with emissions.

And just so you know, there's a quote button to the top-right of everyone's posts.... click it to insert their quote into your next post... it's probably a little easier than copying/pasting what they say

if you go catback what can you do to get more torque to make up for the torque you lost from your catback?

WITH A CATBACK EXHAUST ON A STOCK D17 CIVIC, YOU NEITHER GAIN OR LOSE A NOTICEABLE AMOUNT OF HP/TORQUE! STOP WORRYING! EXHAUSTS ON STOCK D17 CIVIC = MORE PLEASANT SOUND.

I really don't want to start down that slippery slope. First you get a cat back, then a header, the high flow cats, next thing you know your spending thousands and thousands of dollars on a new car that is fine to begin with. For now I was just looking for a little nicer sound, and performance gains can't hurt either right? Plus the stock exhaust manifold isn't too restrictive when compared to other components I've seen on other engines.

for those who want a little sound, just get a ****ing muffler and weld it on your stock piping; no loss in tq/hp: your mom and dad will be happy that it's not gonna cost $$$; you're gonna be happy because people will think you got a built engine under the hood (which of course you wouldn't show)... for those of you that want some performance as well (and are willing to spend about a hundred more dollars,go for the catback

simple as that. /thread
