Default exhaust wrap..

i had to put wrap on the down pipe that goes under the oil pan because that casing that comes stock cracked (not my fault). i put it on yesterday, and by the time i got down the street it smelled like burning and when i looked at it, it was smoking... is that normal?? is it just buring off access?? i dont want to cook the oil in the pan, should i double wrap it?

A lot of thermal tapes will smoke for the first few trips.
This is part of how the insulation "seals". Let it be known
that this is my personal experience and I am no expert.
Just my opinion, but I have taped about 15 cars now.
Just watch it real close and ask a shop if your still concerned.
Good luck to you!
