Default had a small problem..

I know it has been a while since I have posted on here but I have been stressed with college and life. Anyways, I had to get the head rebuilt because I had a bent valve. My dad took my car since I was down in college and he got it fixed before I even knew what was wrong with it. $1200 for a rebuilt head. Now the car is still smoking and using oil, what should I do? Am I gonna have to get new rings and pistons? If I do I am not getting oem.

sounds like a valve seal problem, since the head is what was changed.

To figure out the problem, compression test the cylinders and do a leak down test. Click compression link in my signature.

Who diagnosed the problem - the shop that did the head work? If so, they should be responsible for fixing their mistake. Don't just accept the problem, take it back or ask your Dad to take it back. I know many people refuse to take their cars to a dealership, but I've found all too often that the local garage doesn't always do a good job. Yes, they can be less expensive, but sometimes, you get what you pay for.
