i bought a n1 style muffler and had a local muffler shop weld on a custom 2.25 inch cat back on my civic. it is loud at full throttle or highway speeds above 75 mph, but normal cruising it isn't bad. it sounded really good with my stock d15, but sounds even better now with my vtec d16z6

If you're waiting for the motor to blow, save your cash and put it into the new engine. What's the point of modding an engine only to blow it in the near future and have your parts go to waste??? [:@]

+1. Put a $100 fart-cannon on the -15 and invest in the -16!

+2, dont' waste ANY money on a motor that you're going to replace relatively soon. You'll get more power out of a vtec swap, then you will with any bolt ons to that piecer motor. (except nitrous and turbo obviously)
