Default Illegal??

I m originally from Ontario but i go to school in New York. I just ordered the header 4-1, but I didn't know that 4-1 is illegal in Ontario. How am I supposed to take it in for emission test? if they find out, i would get in deep trouble. What should i do?

No, I didn't get in trouble. A friend of mine told me that header 4-1 is an illegal in Ontario. I was like how am I gonna take it in for inspection this summer? I don't want to replace old header in and then after that i ll have to reinstall header 4-1 in it. Pain in the neck! What should I do? I already have my catback in it - it is legal in Ontario though.

I am a certified Ontario emissions inspector. As far as i can tell from my training as long as you still have your O2 sensor in place and a cat installed there is no reason your car can not be tested. About a month ago I tested a CRX with a B16, headers, intake and a racing clutch that made the ride on the dyno real fun. I had to test it as a hot rod, but there was nothing illegal about it. One of the other mechanics at our shop runs a civic with headers and a cold air intake, and it gets e-tested just fine.

Hope this helps

you guys have to put them on dynos for emissions? wow here in colorado they just test for a visual cat, check the exhaust gases, and make sure everything is working up to 3000rpm... but next year they are getting rid of emmisions which is gonna be sweet..

We have to put all cars and trucks 1988 and up through the test. For diesel we do a visual check of the exhaust, if there is no black smoke whie at idle it passes. But for gas engines we have to put them on a dyno and do two test, the first test is the asm 2525 test, it is a 25mph speed with 25 percent resistance on the dyno (the resistance is based on the engine and weight of the car). The second is a curb idle test for about 30 seconds. There is also a very minor gas cap test to make sure it holds pressure. The tests aren't very hard to do, there is just a lot of bullsh*t that you have to learn to get your badge.
