Default which intake....?

I am looking to buy and intake for my 97 civic. I have two questions. First, why would somebody buy a namebrand intake (aem, injen etc.) over the ebay intakes. Arent they the same thing other then the filter? (you can just buy a K&N seperatly) Second, which intake is better for the car, a short ram and the cold air that put the filter behind the fender?

theyre both gonna be a metal tube with a filter attached. Get a cheap tube and a good filter.

I dont know much about '97s...I heard that the intakes for those cars back then arnt as efficient as the 7th and 8th gens. IF...you can find an (INJEN) with MR Technology for that year and model, they work. $300. Im soon going to get one.
