Cathy I know what you're talking about completely! Down on Aklan and Boracay it is very common to see jeepnies that are incredibly loud... heck, even the trikes can be loud!!! But listen to these guys, though, it would be uncomfortable driving with a car that loud and not safe for the car itself... where in Philippines are you?

you will HURT your car if you take off the exhaust. think about your exhaust as a straw...

if you have a straw in a cup (oem size), you'll be able to drink water fine
if you have a huge straw (or no straw), you WON'T be able to drink water, because 1) your not producing enough sucking power (this parallels the car's ability to provide exhaust) and 2) something about backpressure that can be explained in the sticky...

Huh? All competitive race cars run open headers.

I think that guy is wrong about backpressure !You will lose some bottom end but gain top end hence backpressure . I dont see why it would be a problem to just unbolt the muffler only and leave the cat and resonator on there ???? Can somone please explain if there would be any power gain from this ? Im assuming so.

If you have had ever driven a car with no exhaust, you would not want to take yours off, it's just not worth it. My friends EG's exhaust ripped off a while back and I took it for spin in the few days that it was exhaustless, and it was REDICULOUSLY loud, like, shook your eyeballs loud. He has a nice aftermarket sterio and everything, had that s*** cranked and could still barely hear it over the engine. It's just not worth it man, you will KILL your ears!

who said anything about a built car? Obviously there's a difference in power between a purpose-built race car and a stock-ish civic. cathy never said anything about mods, so I'm assuming we're dealing with a stock or near-stock civic until I'm informed otherwise

open headers sounds really nice, but it will **** up your valves proformance race cars like mustangs v8's runs straight pipes because there valves are diffrent then an imported cars, but it will hurt your car allways want a muffler but enjoy man it sounds great on open headers
