Default My new exhaust is TOO LOUD!!

Uggg....

So I got new exhaust put on today. I installed the header that replaced my CAT yesterday. Took the car to the shop today and they custom made 3" piping from my header back to the muffler.

I should have gotten an oval muffler. The straight one is too loud. Also, I made the exhaust to big. I lost more low end horsepower than I wanted. And I dont' want to access the high end horsepower because it's so frigin loud.

On the plus side, I had gotten the 3" exhaust so i could put a turbo on and get real good gains. I was going to wait to get the turbo later. Now however I think I either (1)need to take off the exhuast go stock again (2) Get a resonator that will take the noise down or (3) buy the procivic turbo kit I've been eyeing.

What do you think?

so you don't have a cat converter on your car? that's illegal and a cat will lessen the noise.

No cat. Just have a check engine eliminator. But I might actually put the CAT back on until I get the turbo kit. Perhaps I'll get some low end hp back and lose some of the noise. Good point. I may do this tomorrow actually.

high flow cats dont do anything so there are pointless to have, just keep the stock one and your polluting the air for no reason. Of coarse your going to loose bottom end power when you put a 3inch wide exhaust on a stock engine, anyways just deal with it till you turbo.

I don't have to take emissions tests where I am registered in Illinois. So I will not be worrying about them Originally I planned to move the cat below the car. But I found out I didn't have to do emissions tests. So I scrapped that plan.

Also, I just ordered the turbo kit! $3,300 yikes. But it is going to be bad ***. Hopefully I will get it next week and then I will bolting that baby on over the holiday weekend. 200 hp here I come

2 problems with your setup.

1. removing the cat
2. 3" piping

do you have a resonator? that could be problem 3. if you dont have one

I have all those problems lol. It was not meant to be for stock engine. I'm going to wait till I put the turbo on and see how it changes the sound. If it's still too loud then, I will put a resonator on. But the turbo should change it up a lot.

I had my old civic straight piped. It was way too loud. I didn't have a cat or resanator either.
