My friend is a mechanic and told me that headers won't do much for power, maybe a 5% increase unless I have an intake, which I do. He said a good intake will add maybe another 10% increase and if you do a computer remap, which I haven't, that might add another 10% in power. I have a 1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6L. Are there headers out there for my Civic or are they even made? If not, could I have them custom made for my car? Thanks. And the 4-2-1, 4-1 question. I read the I/H/E thread, but I don't know what these numbers mean. Thanks.

 

4-2-1 means the pipes go from 4 pipes one for each cylinder to 2 pipes then to 1 pipe out to the cat


4-1 means the same ting but they go directly from 4-1

 

First off civcis don't have headers. They have a header.

I'm not sure on the hp %s though, some on here can tell you.

 

thye make headers for your car. either 4-2-1 or 4-1. for your car get the megan racing 4-1 race header.

 

4-1 is better for top end

4-2-1 is better for mid-range power

and i dont think remapping your ECU would do much, definitely not worth how much it would cost

 

x2^^, Remaping the ecu with more agresive fuel and timming curves would help but, without high CP and cams it's a waste of money.

 

Thanks. Unfortunately, I went on the Megan Racing website and all they had for my year, make, model was the 4-2-1. Oh well. I still want to get headers. If the 4-1 is really better then if you could recommend another manufacturer of headers that makes the 4-1, that'd be cool. Thanks for the info again.

 

i have the megan racing 4-2-1 header for my 98. it's the same exact model that would fit your 95 and it is definitely worh it.

i would say go for a 4-2-1; civics can always use a little more low end power.

 

HEADER...HEEEAD-ER. ffs. Yes, the header for your car wont add to much, maybe 10 hp. More with an intake probly. I dont know about the ECU remap for your model and year, but for the 07 civic si, reflashing the ecu is intense, V-Tec kicks in at 4500 rpms, about a 25 hp gain

 

I have a Hedman Chikara 4-2-1 installed on my car and it was cheap and works well. I would go with a 4-2-1 for a street driven machine.
