Resonator Delete Problems/DIY SRI
I just took out the resonator from my 2000 Honda Civic CX Hatch, and I've noticed a slight change in throttle response and engine sound, but I seem to have lost a lot of power. At 65-70 MPH, I usually shift from 4th to 5th, but once in 5th, the needle barely crawles when the gas is wide open. Maybe I damaged something?
I'm also interested in building my own SRI, wondering if anyone had any tips on instillation, parts, etc. My budget is going to be around $100.

There really shouldn't be any significant change in power/throttle response by just taking out the resonator. Maybe the louder engine noise is playing games with your head lol. I took out the resonator in my '99 Civic and didn't notice any difference at all other than noise. Same deal with my '95 Civic back before I got my intake.
If your budget for a SRI is $100, buy a cheap intake from eBay and a good filter(K&N or AEM) and you'll be golden. Can probably be done for less than $100 and it'll be better than making your own..

For less than $100 (it's like $98 shipped) you can buy a brand new AEM short ram intake on eBay if you sort by price so that you can easily spot the least expensive listings.
EDIT: nevermind, the one for 96-00 non-EX trim levels is $140 shipped. Here is the link just in case you still wanted to see it.

okay, okay, my engine sounded cooler so my mind told me it was more powerful. it happens :P
still doesnt account for the loss of power, though...
and as for buying a pre-constructed SRI, i figured it'd be more memorable if i built my own, it doesnt seem too hard. i have, though, been looking at AEM parts.
