Throttle body spacer effective?

Throttle body spacer effective?
Hi!
I was wondering what people thought about a throttle body spacer improving low to mid range hp and torque? I have a 7th gen D17A6 (HX) and am looking to improve my mpg. I have read the stickys and come to the conclusion that at the rpm I run at (<3K), that a header/downpipe/cat back wouldn't get me anything. Magnaflow shows a 1 ft/lb torque and 0 hp gains @ 3K rpm. Anything larger than 2" would reduce my velocity and I would lose low end torque.
I am looking for ways to improve my MPG (hp/torque gains below 3K rpm, etc.).
Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of any convincing data that shows the spacer will produce significant (if any) gains. The best way to achive higher MPG is to alter your driving habits - more coasting/anticipating stops is one way. You might get a slight increase by using Royal Purple, but evn that's not worth the cost, IMO.
Also, keep your tires inflated to a couple of psi beyond what is on the door jam sticker.
