I have a 99 civic dx and just starting. Going to get an aem intake and want to know what a header is and if i should get one.

 

a header carries the exhaust from the engine to the rest of the exhaust tubing to the rear of the car. If you want to spend the money get a DC header but if youre on a budget Megan is good. I would go with megan either way.

 

o ya. The number of tubes on the header depend on how many cylinders your car has. So since your cars a 4 banger it goes 4 tubes into 1

 

a header is definately a step in the right direction for performance. once you get your intake a header would be a good investment.

^^^ I thought a Header was different. Arnt headers like the difference between stock intake and a CAI or SRI. isnt the header just the performance replacement from the manifold or is the header a type of manifold? i just know a header has cleaner bends that make the exhuast flow a lot better thus more HP.

 

yes the header is a performance replacement for a exhaust manifold just like cai is a performance replacement for a stock intake. your right on w/ your thinking. plus they look alot cooler lol
