I think people have a misconception about forums. Yes, they are here to provide information. Yes, they are here to provide a place to hang out during down times (off-topic sections). However, it is pointless to continually have the same questions asked over and over again when the information is already out there.

To answer your question... a simple test pipe is just a pipe. There is nothing in it, it is just a plain old pipe you put in place of your catalytic converter. A resonated test pipe is a little more than just a straight through pipe and it helps decrease noise level (key word, helps, they really don't decrease noise very much) without sacrificing power.
If you're looking to get either a test pipe or resonated test pipe, I'd say don't bother. You won't pass emissions (assuming you get tested) and it makes the car a whole lot louder and in most cases for a Civic, makes it even more like crap. Beside performance gains are minimal, if any, unless you are boosted or w/e.
