I have an aftermarket mugen EX header for my 01 LX civic 2dr. I heard that if i just get a aftermarket downpipe for an EX 01 model then i will be fine with hooking up the header to my LX civic. IS this true and what exactly must i do?

 

I tried to install a header made for an ex on my 03 lx but in 2003 the cat placement is different. In the lx the cat is actually part of the exhaust header and in the ex it is not. Check to see where your cat is placed before you do anything. If you are like me, the ex header should fit you just have to either extend the downpipe to it causing the removal of the stock cat which you then you'll have to buy a universal cat to install as well, or perhaps you can get your hands on a downpipe for an ex and convert your entire exhaust system to that of an ex. (which I am currently doing.) Either way, you have some work ahead of you. Good luck.
