Default 3rd Generation Civic

I have a 1986 Honda Civic, but I wanna customize it. Most sites only go back as far as 88. Will 88 parts fit my 86? Only 2 years difference.

What you should do is buy something cheap for an 88 and see if it fits... if it does try something more expensive and build your way up... just go to a junkyard and get an 88 piece and hold it up to your car. Keep us posted on your project.. this sounds hillarious!

HEY that's not nice. I mean my car isn't the worlds fastest or sexiest car, but niether was most of you people's civics. I have seen some ugly a$$ cars turn into dreams on wheels. I have an 86 Civic with only a bent hood. The body and interior are in MINT condition. Only MINIMAL rust on the underbody. Trust and believe it will knock you socks off after I am done with it. Think of it as me restoring a muscle car.

lol i dont think moogly meant any harm... he was just trying to say if you wanna find out if the 88 civic parts would fit, to try to buy the cheap parts first beofre you buy the expensive one and find out if it would work

Sorry about blasting, I kinda over reacted. I get a little upset sometimes because I bought the car just to get to work and back. Then I saw some potential in it. I mean how many people still rockin' a '86. So I wanted to do a restoration on it. I just wasn't aware of the cost. People are asking 3,500 for a paint job. I'm like whoa! That's a down payment on a brand new car. But I think I will try to fix it up. I will price the engine swap thing. Where is a good place to go to do that? Will I have to change my transmission too? (It's automatic) Give some suggestions. I have decided to keep it original as far as the body goes. So just the paint job, rims, and lowering springs. That will look good since its so boxy. Then I want to put neons, HID's, and then tint it. I just don't know what to start with. If i Do anything cosmetic, it may look ridiciulous because I havent painted it yet. Well, I will keep you guys posted.

well for older civics id say check out http://www.redpepperracing.com/forum...ff&act=idx

was great help when i had my 86crx!

but im preaty sure they wont fit from a 88.... newer style on most parts expetialy suspension parts....

unfortunatly finding some parts might be preaty hard! just so old and not a very popular customized vehicle.....

not saying it will look like dog crap.... but with such a older car with alot of hard to find parts.... most ya just buy used or just start customizing yourself... bust out the old fiberglass and resin... and have fun!
