Dynamat silencer How does it work good or?
My grandma and grandpa have this oldsmobile 86? 96? car and they say its to noisy as far as road noise goes. I read about this dynamat stuff here on this forum.
If I were to take apart their doors only would this solve the road noise? They had a 80's model car and it had super thick doors and was ugly but it was quiet inside. I dont think this new car they have is all that bad next to some I have rode in but they want to get another just because of the noise in this one.
Would I have to take the seats out and coat the floorboards too to keep the noise out or just where the seat does not cover? What about just doing where the wheels are and the trunk maybe? I just need some ideas on what it would take. I would not want to take their money and then it not work well. I think they would be a little mad spending 250 bucks and not getting it quiet.
Thanks

well it should help... but its not gonna be a easy task....
mainly i would do the floor first then the doors. for the floor you can use more of a mating deadener. just pull the carpet and lay it down over it.......

ive heard good things from them.......
they have the foam type, brush on type and even classic stick on type. if ya use the stick on stuff be sure to rubb it on good! buy thier roller definatly! works way beter than by rubbing with hands.LOL
and it could also be thier rubber seals on the car as well....... after awhile the door jam weatherstriping flattens out and cracks over time.

What ever you do, do not and i repeat do not buy elemental design. It smells like cat urine and does not work at all. There is better stuff out there like dynamate and tsunami silencer. It cost more, but well worth it. You think they'd be mad if it didn't help, imagine if you made there car smell like cat urine.
First off, why do you smell cat urine enough to recognize it?
kidding. Anyways, I did my whole car in Tsunami and it was WAAAAY cheaper than dynamat. For my tsunami kit and installation it was still less than just the dynamat from car toys here in Portland. Tsunami and dynamat is the same product, quality-wise, it is just less expensive

PEEL AND SEAL
in your menards roofing/gutter deparement. roll it on and that stuff is REALY hard to pull off. always done the job for me....
thats what i used to do the rear of my truck.
but for older people.... maybe tell them to turn down thier hearing aids

Well it looks like I would be doing the trunk first. I dont plan to take that car apart. I dont see a easy way of even getting the seats out. The trunk would be very easy to do like coating the wheel hubs which are like aluminum can metal and block no noise from the tires. That is where the noise if coming from it seems. When sitting in the back seat it sounds super loud and its anoying.
I dont want nothing that smells like cat pee. Here on the farm we have over 50 cats and cat pee smells are on everything. Cats pee on everything! Always check for puddles in a tractor seat BEFORE sitting down I learned the hard way. I didnt know a cat could pee so much but it went through my insulated coveralls and a pair of pants and got my underwear wet too.
Anyways...
I cant find anything but dynamat on ebay. There are some other el cheapos on their.

Look for Tsunami! It is exactly the same as dynamat but cheaper! I have my whole car in Tsunami and it is great, no joke... I hate cats and if anything pee'd on me I would kill it.
