Help with carbon fiber hood installation
Hi, this is my first post here, I was searching on google for a honda enthusiast forum seeking some help. I have a '98 5-speed Honda Civic EX 4-door, I just installed a carbon fiber hood on it and I have a few questions. First of all, my new hood has spots marked where the windshield wiper fluid sprayers are supposed to go but they are not drilled at all, is there an easy way to do this without wrecking the hood? Also, on that note, I can't figure out how to take the nozzles out of my old hood so I just disconnected the tubing where it connects to the car for now, how would I go about removing the nozzles from the old hood? I also need to remove the weather stripping from the old hood and install it on the new hood, I tried pulling on it thinking that it just kinda snapped in but it wouldn't budge. And my last question is the hood seems to fit perfectly, the wholes for mounting lined up perfectly and screwed in snugly, when I close the hood I can get the hood to latch but it won't go down all the way, it is stuck in the position that it's in when you pull on the hood release inside the car where it is secured to the hook but it is lifted up so you can pull the latch and disconnect it from the hood, I tried pushing down on it but it just won't go down all the way. Thanks ahead of time for any help at all!
Welcome to the forum. You can drill holes in the hood for your nozzles. Just remember to drill from the outside to the inside, and take your time so that it doesn't fray. If you do get a bit of fray though, don't worry, just use a little clear nair polish to seal it up. As for removing the nozzles, you have to squeeze the two prongs on the inside and push toward the outside. If you still can't get them out consider going to your local shop (Auto Zone, Advance...) and get a universal nozzle set. I've never heard of anyone reusing the weather stripping...so sorry, I can't help you there.
yeah, you don't reuse the weather stripping (that's for wussies), and as far the holes go, previous ideas are correct, but can always leave them out for a sleeker look.
and that's an old pic:
