Engine code will be where the circle is, engraved in the block. It may be covered with oil/grease, so look carefully.

Huge aftermarket support for those motors. You wont have any trouble finding all kinds of go fast goodies. :-)

You got a few choices:
N/A build - not recommended, D-series suck N/A)
Supercharger - not recommended, turbochargers are superior to superchargers when talking about these motors
Nitrous - easy to hook up, and is cheap, but in the long run costs a lot because you have to refill the bottle all the time. Also, if no one nearby refills bottles, it's kind of a crappy choice.
Turbo - the most common and most efficient choice. It has a lot of potential, is kind of expensive depending on what you do, but once you get it all installed and working, you're not paying anymore money over time, unlike nitrous. Turbo just sucks in air, which is free.

whats FTW? and what would i have to do and what would i have to get to do a turbo setup? how much would it cost? i think i herd somewhere that turbos can blow out and u need to rebuild them? and how much more hp am i looking at, i know it depends on psi, but i herd somewhere that 1psi is the equililent to 10hp?

thanks alot again

FTW is "for the win"

in the DIY drivetrain section is a "turbo grocery list" and a couple other turbo things. (to view them you must change "past month" at the bottom to "beginning")
also, check out the stickies in the turbo/nitrous section of the forum
do a lot of research before you buy anything, and know exactly what you want before you go buying turbo parts.
The only things you can really just go ahead and buy regardless of what you're turbo setup will be are: chipable ECU, gauges, gauge pods, wideband o2 sensor, turbo timer, oil lines and fittings. That's about all you can just go ahead and buy.
Everything else (turbo, manifold, downpipe, intercooler, charge piping, blow off valve, etc.) will need to be planned so that every turbo part works together in harmony.

Turbo's oil seals can go out if you do not properly have the oil lines run, or do not let the turbo cool down by running it at idle after you drive it, before you turn it off. (this is what a turbo timer is for. you program it to run for a certain amount of time after you turn the key off. This is so the turbo will cool down and you don't have to sit there and wait for it.)
Also, ebay turbos tend to blow oil seals because of their poor craftsmanship.

HP you gain depends on the turbo setup. Generally, a higher HP producing setup will cost more than a lower HP producer. Stock D-series internals in good condition can handle ~200HP or so. If you're going for any more than that, you'll need to build your engine.

I've never heard that 1psi=10hp, and I doubt from what I have read and know that there is any general formula relating psi to HP, because there are many other factors involved.
