Help learn body work!
Alright.
Car slipped off the jack stand about 6 months ago and dented my rocker panel.
maaco quoted about 325 for the body repair (which isn't really that bad), but if I can do it for less I would be more than willing to get my hands dirty.
Can any one give me advice on how to go about this. I have been reading on body work and I think the only thing i wouldn't know how to do is actually to get the dent out. I saw a stud welder at harbor freight for $100. Comes with studs and a slide hammer. I was thinking sand down the paint to metal, weld studs and slide hammer the hell out of it till its nice. Grind studs off. body filler, shape, prime paint?
Opinions. Here is the dent.

i would go to a good body shop and see how much they would charge you to repair it. then decide, if its worth it. even with the slide hammer the metals gonna be stretched to hell.
i would still love to be able to do my own body work also.
on second thought, it might be easier, just to cut most of it out and weld another piece in.
