i just bought a 97 civic and i want to get 6000K hids. i have them in my ranger but can't find the ones i need for the civic. does anyone know the model/series number of the bulbs? i know my ranger is 9007.

Please don't. Your halogen reflector headlights were not designed for HIDs. HID and halogen bulbs are shaped differently and have different output patterns. There is literally no way to eliminate glare with HIDs in halogen reflectors. On top of that, light output is almost never actually better than the factory lighting; you get the false impression that it is because everything is lit up. The problem with that is that you don't need to see the ground 10' in front of you, nor do you need to see the tops of trees on the left side of the road. Aiming the headlights down doesn't eliminate the glare, either; it just reduces the already bad light output you'll be getting. And if you don't care if the glare from your headlights is blinding an oncoming driver, you really shouldn't be driving. Period.


If you want HIDs, do it right and do a retrofit into your factory headlights using OEM HID projectors, like those found in BMWs, Audis, etc. If you don't want to drop $500+ on lighting, get good halogen bulbs and call it a day.


And if you'd like, I can start getting more in-depth as to why HIDs in halogen reflectors are a bad thing.

 

Was guna post something along the lines of reapers post, but he got to it first and covered basically everything haha. basically, those nice "super bright halogen bulbs" are your friend, settle with them, or dish out the money for a retrofit.
