Default How to paint trim around doors/windows? Paint has faded off on my 99.

The black paint on the trim around the doors/windows has began fading off. I notice this on a lot of civics.

What's the best way for me to re-paint it myself? What paint should I buy?

I know nothing about auto painting.

well i think the HARDEST part is removing those trim pieces....

simply sand off ALL the coating on those trim pieces and also be sure to TAPE OVER the rubber window seals before painting them!

just get the trim pieces sanded down to the metal... well I THINK its metal.... and just make sure the metal is all scuffed up with like 200 or 400grit sandpaper so its nice and smooth, then primer the pieces slightly sand alittle more if its not smooth enough... and then paint them...

im not sure what stuff im gonna use to redue mine eventualy but im thinking about using some WRINKLE PAINT.... or maybe just some smooth black paint..... im not quite sure yet....
just have to experiment alittle and see what i like the looks of best...

did you primer it before painting?

i fya didnt primer it first thats why.... and you need the metal scuffed up so the paint has something to stick to...

Its a big help if you take it off roll down the window, take off your door pillar and there are 3 screwson the door (inside). take that off and then the black trim you're trying to paint pulls up and out.Sand paint ect, reinstall.

which trim pieces are we talking about? The b-pillar plastic? The metal piece below the window? What? I think H-T has a DIY on the metal piece...

always always always use primer. and spend time prepping. if you rush through to get it done its gonna look bad. take your time and it will look good.
