Default LED Tail Lights and Turn Signals

So I've been looking around at LED's to install in my '96 Civic EX as rear turn signals and tail lights. I found the correct 7440/7443 LED bulbs and ordered them.

I put them in the tail lights/brake lights and go to hit my brakes and my dash lights come on and I get the noise as if the door is open and my head lights are on. I remove the bulb and hit the brakes and I get no lights or noise (from the dash or the rear).

Anybody know if I need to splice in a load resistor to get my brake lights and turn signals to work?
