Looking for a Tach, can't find it :-(
Ok, so I am simple yes, but I have been wanting a tach in this car bad, but there's only one thing, I don't want that big 3" sucker that mounts to its own bracket and has the little shift light, thats too racey for me.
What I do want is A. To figure out what the difference is with all these freaking AutoMeter types, other then looks, some of them are electric, some mechanical, some water filled??? I don't get that stuff at all.
My goal is to find a tach, and probably a small voltmeter that will fit in this dual pod. Is there not a tach out there somewhere, or from AutoMeter that will fit the first bay in this pod, and a matching voltmeter that will fit pod 2? I am looking around on ebay, nothing. I tried their website, can't make heads or tails of anything there, and can't find the 2" tach.
If someone knows of one type that will fit the pod, or a reliable one from another brand, I am all ears. I am not in a hurry to get them, just want to update my buy list.
Thanks guyz and galz!

you don't need a volometer unles your running a huge system... i would just get an Ex or Si cluster. or a Vti, or a VTi-S or a CRV cluster. or a TypeR hell they all fit
Wont the wiring harnesses be all jacked up, I mean if I get a cluster with a tach, won't I have to wire it up somehow? I am not that farmiliar with swaping stuff like that out yet.
Nevermind, I ran a search and found some other threads, should have done that before i posted :-)
The only thing I will have to do now is buy a new backlit glow gauge kit :-( Cause my old one won't match up, gay gay gay.

So I notice some of the e-bay versions are listing 5-speed in the info, as the clusters for the ex's came from a 5 speed car, would the fact that mine is auto affect anything at all with the overall operation of the cluster?
I found this one, i sort of want to wait out the bidding war and get one, they are nice. If I don't find an EX I assume I can use this SI ?

it's a 96-00 DX right?
I would look for a auto CRV cluster, they look cool and they should be cheap!
Regardless of whether you get the instrument cluster or not, you should still use the pod. You may have remembered this procedure I wrote:

It explains that Summit Racing (their tech support is great, as well) has gazillions of gauges to choose from and as you all know, Hondas are sadly lacking in the gauge department. My favorite is oil temperature. At about 160F, the oil is thin enough so that full throttle runs won't hurt the engine. Knowing that temp is very handy. Another one is outside temp. Once it gets down to 35 or so, ice on overpasses can send you into a death spiral, so outside temp is also important. I can go on and on, but the fact is that having a pod can only be a good thing.
By the way, I was over at Walmart the other day and saw some really handy wire connection clips. You simply clip one onto a hot wire, ignition wire, headlight wire, etc, and plug in your gauge wire to the terminal that is built-in to the clip-on part. This is MUCH easier than soldering and is easy to disconnect.

Yeah I saw them too, I spend hours wandering aimlessly around wally when i work nights, looking for Something to buy.. for the love of god, there has to be something I can buy, lol..
I will still probably get a pod, but I do like the idea of a new dash, and the CRV one isn't bad, i like the drive indicators on that one more so then the little outlined box on the civics, but the SI one is nice.
The EX's are about 100 on ebay atm, I may end up going that route, dunno.
Thanks for the info guys, glad to know they are so versitile.
