but i love progress pictures

i just have to figure out how i want to do my radio install on my 96dx civic. i wanna rock my DD alpine dvd radio but the 96-98 is only single din and i need double
im thinking either modify the cup holder area for the screen down low, or remold the dash console single din to a double and relocate the heater controls down low where the pocket above of the cupholder is.... ive seen the heater controls moved so thats no problem, just modifying the upper console to look nice could be the issue.... i want a stock look.

all stripped out and yea it was an auto

i used the original console to fibreglass to, but cut out the ashtray and lighter so that my h/u would fit back tidy

applied resin to t-shirt on sides

you can see whats left of the hacked console, this method worked well, an easy way the keep the shape till the resin sets

addiction2bass, i would put the screen where your c/c is, i had my screen lower down first and it didn't work too well as i had to take my eyes off the road to do simple tasks like skip track, not very safe

o well i dont typicaly even touch my radio... i always used the remote control. but then again my 96 is a manual so i might need that hand.LOL
tho i guess i can always modify my dash piece... its already scared up and cracked so no harm if it doesnt work out.... plus i have a good spare one now if it doesnt turn out ill just slap the good one in and maybe try to find a flip out unit. tho id prefer to stay away from a flip out... to many problems.

tho i prefer my plastic mold stuff over fiberglass. just alot easier to work with and really easy to smooth out!

because my parents are getting ready to go down to florida for the winter so most my time has been at work and helping him reclear coat the motor home. we just about done reclear coating it and then i have to start packing his toolbox and junk, they only have about a week or two till they are suposed to leave for florida... but as soon as they leave for florida ill be working more on the civics. striping one and moding the other.... might take some time off tho to play some video games
