my dyi's for the day....
i painted, sanded, then clear coat. and i used a 120 fine grit paper, worked well didn't have to sand for long periods of time it came right off! .... i wish i would have taped those spots off, just wasn't thinking! i'll be taking paint off tomorrow in those spots!

If you want silver letters, sand them smooth before painting the cover... Then put chapstick over the letters and paint the whole valve cover. After the paint's dry, you can just wipe away the chapstick and presto-chango! The letters are still silver and you don't have to worry about scratching your nice new paint job. Then clearcoat it because the letters will eventually get dull and oxidized or whatever.

I'm definitely using the chapstick tonight for my letters...i'll post a pic within the next couple of days when it's all done...i'm doing the letters in white and the entire cover in black!
