Default Need 2000 Civic EX Pass Headlight: Which Brand?

Greetings from the Southeast!

I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX and want to replace my 11 year old cloudy, passenger's side headlight assembly. I do not want the old light cleaned/sanded, I want it replaced.

My driver's side was replaced 1 year ago after another lady caused an accident crumpling that side. I'd like to buy the part that exactly matches and have a local shop install it using my existing bulbs. I was told by the repairing body shop that they ordered the driver's light from the Honda dealership in town.

Would anyone know which 3rd party brand that the Honda dealerships use for my vehicle?

Or, will I get an exact match if I buy either the passenger OEM replacement TYC# 20-5661-01 or Depo# 317-1116R-US? They are both around the $43 range.

Thanks.

I have TYC's on mine. They are practically identical to OEM.

I have a question regarding the installation of this light by a shop.

My primary (independent) Honda & Acura shop said it would take them 1.5 hours to install the headlight assembly. Looking at the forum's DIY thread on this shows under 20 mins with the right tools. Other web resources shows 30 min or under 1 hour as a gauge.

To be fair I want to ask, does it seem reasonable that a shop dedicated to maintaining Hondas for 33 years would take that long to install?

Or, is it common practice to expect inflated labor costs when customers bring the part?

I'll be contacting two other similar shops in the area tomorrow for labor only quotes.

Thanks again.

Shops have set times that they say a job takes, according to Honda. It may not take that long, but you get charged for it.

Honestly, it's a DIY job. You'll thank yourself later. It's REALLY easy to do.

They don't call them stealerships for nuthin...lol.

That's why I always work on my own cars. Hondas are so easy to work on, it's almost criminal. The only thing I can't fix are electronic issues.
