Default painting brake caliber

Ive been wanting to paint my brake calibers. Is it something that I could do myself with some paint from a regular auto store, or should I just take it to a body shop and have them painted professionally? Also what color do u guys think would look best, my civic is white so I was thinking red would look good. Any advice is appreciated.

well, there are many tutorials on the interweb, if you just search google, i'm sure many will pop up.

and yes, you can find special caliper paint or kits that come with prep materials and a brush if you want to do it that way.

and colorwise, it's all preference and what wheels your rocking.

If you don't want to go with the kits, it would be in your best interest to go with a high temp paint. engine enamel is tested to 500 degrees which should hold up, but for those doing a bit more hard braking i would go with header paint which is usually rated to withstand 1200 degrees. Those rated temperatures can't be entirely trusted as there will be variations among brands. Just go with a trusted name brand and make sure you do alot of prep and a lot of coats to ensure a solid paint job.

1200 degree paint isn't necessary, it's overkill
most printed "caliper" paint withstands on average 500-700 depending on thickness of paint, as well as layering, and of course prep work.
the actual brand name caliper paint contains chemicals that fight errosion from brake dust and asbestos
