let me give you a bit of advice. DO NOT FIDDLE WITH YOUR AIRBAG.

air bags have explosive accelerant in them, which causes the airbags to literally explode outward when they sense an accident has occurred.

the accelerant is highly caustic (burns the skin) if you get it on you.

leave good enough alone.

someone else is going to have to answer that.

it's called plausible deniability.

u can disable it, it tells how in the haynes manual. I'm painting my interior also. What color are u doing urs? I'm doing mine black? Do you know how to take the upper dashboard of? Is it those screws under the side panels? I can post the instructions that haynes says on later, but I would still be really careful. Yellow wires = srs system.

Why don't you just mask everything off around it? Why do you have to take it off or mess with it or w/e you are doing. There's plenty of clearance above it isn't there?

By the way, nice, clean engine bay. But you should really make your sig smaller. A lot smaller.

Now when taking it off you shouldn't have to remove the airbag just arround it (airbag in mounted in that metal frame thing i believe, but you should disable the airbags whenever your working arround them. Remember don't even think about messing with yellow wires because those are airbag wires.

Here is what the manual says:

Disabling the SRS system
Warning: Anytime you are working in the vicinity of airbag wiring or components, DISABLE THE SRS SYSTEM

6. Disconnect the bettery negative cable, then disconnect the positive cable and wait three minutes. Caution: The radio in your vehicle may be equipped with an anti-theft system. Make sure you have the correct activation code before disconnecting the bettery.
7. Carefully disconnect the airbag system connectors as described in the following steps.

Driver's side airbag
8. Remove the access panel on the steering wheel below the airbag
9. Disconnect the driver's airbag module two pin connector.
10. On 1994 and 1995 inegra models remove the red shorting connector from the holder and insert it into the airbag side of the connector. 1996 and later models are automatically shorted when disconnected.

Passenger's side airbag
11. Remove the glove box
12. Disconnect the passenger's airbag module two-pin connector.

That's what is says, if you wanna know about enabling it I'll tell you more later. Again, I say this for my own sake, I have never done this myself, and so I would use as much caution as possible. After you disable it I would wait a few minutes. Do not hold me responsible for anything that happens to your car or to yourself.
