Answering your question before, I've never disconnected it but there should be a 2 pin plastic connector under the dash, you have to take out the glovebox (remove the screws on the hinges) it should be under there, remember look for yellow wires. What year is your civic, it could be different those are instructions for the civic 1996-2000.

So what color are you painting it?

Ok My Civic Is A 99 Lx Ok FOr Those Of You That Things That Is Not Worst It To Take it Out Is Not True. Because If You Want To Have A Sick Ride You Better Do It Right, You I Tape It Down Is Going TO Look Horrible And The Quality Is Going To Be Bad So I Need To Take It Off To Do It Right

Im Doing 2 Tones Black And Red And Is Looking Pretty Cool I Know How To Paint It And After Weeks I Cleaning With Water And Nothing Happens So I Can Tell It Will Last I Even Use Clear Coat And Looks Cool Somebody At The Autozone Told Me Not TO Use Clear Coat I Did Use It And It Looks Kool And Better Quality So It Depends How You Do It And Me I Want To Do It RIght
