Ive seen plenty of people paint it and look fine. Just buy the right kind of paint. Or get new pieces from ebay or a junk yard.

Be nice if they made something you could rub onto the rubber when it firsts starts cracking to fill in the cracks and add a coat of protection like wax. All I have seen is the "revitalizer" which only seems like it is for color. Right now mine is just starting to show the cracks, and I know eventually it will look like the above pic

i ended up sanding the rubber down a bit and painting it with duplicolor flat black trim paint. good product. would look really good if i had the patience to sand all of the rubber away. looks much better than before though. i'm just trying to make it look a bit better to sell the car.
