Default rubber trim advice

I have a 2003 Honda Civic. It has two rubber trim strips above the doors, going from the front to rear window. I live in Texas with no covered parking and it is taking a toll on this trim. The rubber has become grey (instead of black) with little white dots on it. What can I do to try and keep this rubber trim healthy and prevent it from rapidly deteriorating and cracking? There must be something I can apply to this area - as often as I need to. I know nothing about this type of thing. Any help??
thanks

i dunno if its a myth or what, but try rubbing peanut butter on the rubber part. i've heard the oils in that help revitalize the rubber and keep it from cracking as well as turn it back to black. but if you try it, don't blame me if it doesn't work. oh and welcome to the forum.

Get some back to black from a auto store or put some tire wet stuff on it. That will protect it from UV rays and make it look good too.
