Default rubber trim advice

I have a 2003 Honda Civic. It has two rubber trim strips above the doors, going from the front to rear window. I live in Texas with no covered parking and it is taking a toll on this trim. The rubber has become grey (instead of black) with little white dots on it. What can I do to try and keep this rubber trim healthy and prevent it from rapidly deteriorating and cracking? There must be something I can apply to this area - as often as I need to. I know nothing about this type of thing. Any help??
thanks

there alot of different products for this trim, what i used is made by mothers and its called "back to black" , you rub a little on and cover the hole thing and it makes it shiny and black and protects it from weather and such, and its only a couple bucks

Mother's is a product family like Meguires...all kinds of wax, cleaners, tire dressing etc...
Any good auto parts store should have it.
