Default rust... i want my rust gone!

Ok i have a 1993 honda civic EX and its got 2 bad spots on the body. The first one is on the passenger side door. I was told by the previous owner that the door was opened into a pole and thats how it got like that. Here is a picture:

The other spot is on the drivers side rear fender area. Its above the wheel. That area seems to be a lot worse. Here is the pic:

This is common on all honda's I understand. So what do people do about it? How bad does it look? Whats it going to take to fix both of those spots? Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks!

Not sure about the door one, but for the wheel area you'd cut out the rust, replace it with a formed piece of sheet metal, weld, grind, then do bondo, etc. to get it smooth.

It cost me $800 three or four years ago to get rid of rust on both wells. I see it back on one of them now [:@]

As for the door - this is an easy part, just don't let it go further. Sand rust and ALL loose paint off, apply some rust converter and paint it over... Or have a shop do this for you, shouldn't be too expensive...

Put it under your pillow and the rust fairy will leave you a quarter... I wish.

You're right, that's common among older civics, my 95 had the same problem with the back bumper, to the point where it fell off.

It's going to cost a lot of money to get those fixed, not sure how much the door will run.

Where do you live? If you are close I can help you cut and weld those. Really its not that hard to do, its the bondo and paint that are the pain in the ****.

Ya the rear fender you will have to cut, the side doesnt look to bad. Try sanding it. If its deep. Just go to the scrap yard and pick up a new door and get it painted when they re-paint your fender after they fix it.
