Sanding plastic

Default Sanding plastic

How should i go about this, wont it just scratch the crap out of my bumpers??? Lemmie know and if anyone has done this lemmie know ty!

Yeah it will make the plastic all nasty, you are gonna need bondo to make it smooth

That's good to know, I sanded by bumper a bit too much in spots... and I was hoping the primer (it says it is a scrape filling kind)would fill it , but bondo is a great idea!

you may need some glazing putty but dont get crazy with bondo. it should sand easily. i repainted my bumper and the plastic sanded just fine, you just have to use a little higher grit so you dont eat it away and scratch it up though. but if you are just repainting it you shouldnt have to sand it back down to the plastic.

well, if it's a deep scratch, then you'll need to puddy it in, and sand with about a 1500, 1800, or 2000 grit sandpaper as the final. and try to keep the wiping pattern in the same direction and curve around the bends. and if it's black trim, then go to your local store and buy some oem black trim molding paint and spray a few coats, then it'll look like new.
