Default Wet Sanding

I am planning on painting the hood of my car. I was told by someone that I needed to wet sand my hood before I paint it. Would something like this work?

wow... never seen a auto wet sanding block.LOL i always just use a bucket and sanding block and paper.

and YES you need to scuff up the whole thing that your painting!
to see if youve sanded enough, wipe the area off and dry it quickly.... and if you see shiny spots then keep sanding! if you dont the paint wont stick there and very posible the paint will flake off eventualy on that spot!
the whole thing s hould look completely dull. and clean the whole hood really good with some cleaner before you paint.

you dont need to WET sand before painting but you do need to SAND before painting. Wetsanding is mainly for after paint to get rid of dirt and "orange peel"

well everyone has their own way but me if I'm just scuffing up an area to throw a coat of paint on nothing major I'll just throw some 400 grit on my air block and go to town

400grit.... id use 600grit before paint! 400 is still alittle ruff and can show scratches.
